Yes you read right. Turkey is actually home to one of the most impressive ancient ruins in the world. Knidos or Cnidus is an ancient city on the peninsula Datca Turkey. It used to be the home of Aphrodite as a famous sculpture of Praxiteles. It is said that the sculptor created this masterpiece in the year 350 BC.

The Missing Goddess

Like the Colonna Venus in Vatican City, Aphrodite is depicted naked in ancient sculpture. In ancient times, the sculpture was placed in a small temple by the sea. Unfortunately, we lost and to this day archaeologists are still looking for it.
