Has anyone raised the "Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt.?
My family and I will be doing the Haute Route this summer. Need information about hotels or cabins / chalets on the road. Also transportation from Paris to Chamonix / Zermatt to Paris. Railway is the best way to travel? Car rental? I would appreciate any information, help, suggestions! Thank you.
I havent made the high road but I want. Anyway I have traveled in France , and Switz. much and I think for what you are doing, the train is the best way to move. The town of Zermatt doesn't even allow cars. You have to park miles away and take a train to the city cograil anyway. And you do not want to pay for a rental car that is sitting in a parking lot while you are out walking. In addition, France by the KM charges for the use of their roads and Switzerland has a flat rate for their hjighways. Good luck on your trip. I'm envious.
