The best way to experience Croatian coast?
We will have 11 days to see as much as possible from Dubrovnik. I know that 11 days is the way to short, so I want to cover only three places. I was thinking of Dubrovnik – 3 days, Brac (Bol) – 4 days and Korcula (Korcula town) – 4 days. How does this sound? What are the best ways to reach the islands? I have to drive all the way to Split? Finally, where should we stay? Hotels are few and expensive. Any good sites for housing will be greatly appreciated.
I just transported all over the place … I had six days, so I'm jealous get to see more! Anyway wise accommodation along the coast there are plenty of private places for accommodation ….. make sure you are registered as you can get quite a hefty fine to stay in one if you get caught by the tourist police "(I met someone who did! was about $ 100US) … paid a € 20 a night at Dubrovnik and Split and Zadar and more Zargreb (where I stayed in hotels). The coastline is beautiful all the way up …. It took about 4 hours from Dubrovnik to Split, on the bus on the main "highway" up, so you can give an estimate of the time …. It depends on the amount you want see. I know there are ferries to go see the islands as well and may well be worth doing. I liked the city of Split to see as well …. but I think if you want a relaxed atmosphere with a slow pace yours is fine, but I think it would be easy in Dubrovnik two days as its not so great … and that is one of the largest venues around.
