San Francisco and the Central Coast?
My husband and I are flying to San Francisco (first time). I have a hotel booked for 3 nights now. the two remaining nights of our trip we could stay longer in San Francisco or rent a car to drive along the coast. my question is that I stay in San Francisco (which is our first trip 5 nights there or be too long there?) if I decided to drive the coast what is the nicest place to stay in? Monterrey, caramel or marina or somewhere else? Our goal is to walk the coast along the beach and golf and a visit vineyard. What place is better for these activities. I had read monterey somewhere that is nice but it is becoming bad. Is this true? thanks!
Rent a car and drive to Monterey, taking the road beautiful coast. Stay at a B & B in the community of Pacific Grove (right next to Monterey). We like a little place called Casa Gosby, although there are several in the area they are wonderful. Walk along the shore of Monterey Bay and between the rocks on the coast. Then go down to Caramel and stay a while. Drive about 15 miles south of Monterey along Highway 1 Big Sur area and enjoy the big stage. Yes, you can stay up all your nights in San Francisco, but this is a day side trip 2 large you will not regret. You want to return. I live thousands of miles away, but have been a dozen times. It's that good.
