Cartagena de Indias has been declared by UNESCO as a cultural and historical heritage of humanity because of its rich past. History can be found in many parts of the city, like the walls, Spanish colonial architecture and impressive military and religious monuments.
There are many places to visit full of historical, cultural significance, architectural and aesthetic. Within the walls of the city's major tourist attractions are the Cathedral, Monastery of San Francisco, the Gold Museum, the Convent of St. Augustine, the monastery and church of San Pedro Claver, the public clock, the Museum of Modern Art, the Naval Museum, Inquisition Palace, the Plaza de Bolívar, Plaza de los Coches, and the Casa del Marqués de Valdehoyos, among others.
Outside the city walls, the most important places to visit are the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, Arsenal Street, Fort Pastelillo, India Catalina, Casa de Rafael Núñez, Chapel of the Cabrero, the convent of Candelaria and the ancient monument Boots. In addition, near the town there are some strength as San Rafael Angel Battery, Fort San Fernando de Bocachica Battery and Fort San Jose who helped the Spanish conquerors to defend the city from the English, French and pirates.

Cartagena's nightlife is very exciting and full of bars, restaurants, cafes, casinos and nightclubs. The areas of the city encouraged to find the best nightlife are the Corralito Stones, Arsenal Street and Bocagrande. Another thing you can do at night is to have a car ride or just stroll through the old town to enjoy the romantic atmosphere.
Tourism can also practice many sports including of course the water. A visit to the aquarium, botanical garden and eco-tourism are other activities you can do in Cartagena and could have more one day.
Besides being the most important tourist destination of the Colombian Caribbean coast is one of the most important business, meetings and centers conventions throughout the Caribbean.
