Where is the best area to stay in Kauai if you want a hotel on the beach?
My wife and I want to take off about five days early May. Is there an area on Kauai where there are decent hotels on the beach, where there will be too much rain? Also, if you rent a car, we want to be inside drive a couple of hours "of good hiking. Or should we just bag go to Kauai and the Kona Coast on the Big Island instead, where we like it?
Poipu on the south coast would have my vote. Very nice, not as nice as the north coast, but less rain. You have the choice of the best hotels like the Marriott and Hyatt Kauai Kauai even less pricy places like Aston Poipu Kai Poipu Point. So stay in the south and excursions depends on the forecast. Kauai is great for hiking – challenge himself with the Kalalau trail on the famous Na Pali coast, or walk along the beautiful beach of Polihale. Kauai makes a refreshing change from Hawaii, why not try something new?
